It started with a simple question: How do we find other designers and developers in the city we live in, perhaps even in our own neighborhoods? We addressed the problem by creating a site that brought these two groups together — Interhoods. Designed to be an extension of existing social networks that target the design and development community, we built the site to further serve this audience. With the maps and neighborhood listings, users could see who their neighbors were, potentially inciting collaboration. We later found that many people used it as a makeshift job board to find talent! The site is on hiatus, but lives on in an evolved form in Scott Robbin’s Open Chicago.
